Tornado sirens

OK, you might or might not get this. Tornado sirens are used for our safety. So people have to test them once a week. Tornado sirens are tested only on sunny days. If it is cloudy, better check on the TV or computer.

Jack Frost's visit

Jack Frost came a little early this year. When I woke up this morning, I looked out the window.
The ground was covered in white. Most of our garden survived. The only thing that didn't make it
was our tomatoes. Our velpeppers made it. Our herbs made it. Our tomatoes didn't.

The Motercycle Parade

This was very neat. Those of you who might have been from 63rd and Broadway up Glenn to Meridian and Pawnee to K42 might have seen the parade If you were there at 2:45pm you would be lucky. If you haven't you can look it up onto the news. There was a news guy out at Meridian and Pawnee.

Shadow Experement

For science we learned about shadows. How do shadows work? Well, here's how. When light can't go through some thing solid than the part where it can't reach makes a shadow.

Sunny Again!!!!

It's Sunny again!!! For a while it was pretty cloud here in Wichita. It was getting pretty cold till yesterday. I had to wear my coat because it was so cold. I haven't been blogging for a while because of school and Hallowen. Now hopefully it will be Sunny for a while.

Cloudy cold day.

Today is very cloudy here in Wichita. I hope that tomorrow. I do know a good reason why it is cloudy. Clouds act like a blanket at night. It was cold enough to make me put on a coat though.
There is a website called www.wxdude.com. It is an awsome website. You can learn a lot.

Stormy morning

What a morning!!! I have no clue why I was scared of just a lighting bolt. I woke up and saw a bolt of lighting. Not a good way to start the day. It scared me so bad that I was up and checking on my siblings. Then there was a bad boom!!! CRASH!!!! BOOOOOMMMM!!!!! went the thunder. Of course, it woke everybody up. Then there was a kid jam into mom's bedroom. Then I went out into the living room to get a few books which made them calm down. then I did a shadow show.

Flash Flood watch

There has been a Flash Flood watch East of Wichita and south of Wichita. If you are planning to go there this weekend, don't drive into water covered roads. That would be bad. Tons of people have gotten there cars washed away. Even a few inches matter. Turn around, don't drown.

Winter Storm Safety

This is really important!! Snow Storms can happen suddenly. You need to start getting ready in the early fall. Here are some things you should carry in your trunk during snow season. (early spring,
late fall, winter.)

1. First aid kit.
2. Cell phone and coins for pay phone.
3. Heavy blankets and emergency blankets.
4. Paper towels.
5. Windshield scraper.
6. Pocket knife
7. Snow brush
8. Pail of sand or kitty litter
9. Small shovel
10. Long Lasting snacks.
11. Flashlight.
12. Booster cables.
13. Tow chain.
14. Bright colored cloth.
15. pole if you have no antenna.

Now you know what to carry in your car. Now you need to know how to use the tools.
If your car gets stuck:
1.Tie a bright cloth to the antenna and raise it high so rescuers can find you.
2. If your car has no antenna, use a pole or fishing rod.
3. As you sit keep your blood moving.
4.Run the car engine for 10 minutes every hour, keep windows opened a little bit to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. You may be stranded for a long time.
5. Leave ceiling light on at night so you can be seen.

What to do if you are at home:

1. Stay inside.
2. Have a supply of food.
3. Find your battery operated radio and some spare batteries.
4.Save and clean 2 - liter soda bottles or 1 large water container for each family member.

If you MUST go out in a snowstorm wear:

1. Wear mittens. they are warmer than gloves.
2. Wear several layers of heavy garments and a wind breaker.
3.Wear a hood that covers your mouth.
4. Wear a hat and earmuffs.
5. If you MUST go out, fasten a lifeline to you and the house.

This is from the Owlie skywarns
weather book.

Nature Walk

Our Nature Walk was tons of fun!!! It was short but it was fun!!! We went to Pawnee prairie park. You would get off of Kellogg and make a turn onto Tyler Road. You would go a little ways until you come to a big white globe. That is the National Weather Service. (NWS). Then drive a little further until you come to Pawnee Prairie Park. If you are coming from Southwest Boulevard then you make a turn onto Tyler Road. You won't be coming by the NWS, but you should see the globe.
The park is over by Mid-Contenent Airport. If you have any horses they will love it! There are lots of horse trails out there. There is lots of wild life out there. Such as Deer and Spiders and all kinds of things.

The Fall

I wrote this poem just last night.

The Fall

O hear the wind running through the trees.
The leaves on the trees turn different colors.
The squirrels hurry up and finish gathering nuts
The birds hardly ever twitter.
The bees, wasps, and flies are gone.
Geese honk their Good-byes.
The Farmers harvest their crops.
Hallowen and thanksgiving roll around.
When you see or hear these signs it means that fall is here.
