Hunt for the Twister

I am working on writing a book about a young girl named Agnes. Her Dad is a storm chaser and he takes her with him often on tornado hunts. One hot day in July, Agnes and her Dad go on the usual tornado hunts. This tornado hunt though would change Agnes' life. A violent tornado that they were chasing heads straight for their hometown, Dorrence. After a second tornado comes through in a different storm, Agnes and her parents drive down to Wichita to live with some relatives.

Thanksgiving

Yup. Grandma made her delicious rolls again. I made cranberry bread. They have a dog named Dakota. Me and him are BFF's . We had a great time. I'm tired. Who's ready for Black Friday? Not me. That probably means too much shopping tomorrow. Great. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Sick again?!

Really? This time it was the stomach flu. Except, no throwing up. All day Wed. I was resting on the couch. With the mop bucket beside me. Did you notice that it is no longer getting up into the hundreds anymore? Pretty nice out. Sometimes at night it gets down into the forties. Hopefully no more twisters. Anyway, it isn't as likely that we would get one, but still. Hurricane season should be wrapping up here pretty soon. Hallowen is coming in a few weeks!

Butterfly on the way

On Tuesday, we found a monarch Caterpillar. It ate a lot of milkweed. Believe it or not, Katelyn (That is what we are calling the Caterpillar.) started to make here silk button. Last night, she turned around and hooked on. This morning she molted into a pupa. I will try to get some pictures.

Supercell

Exactly one week ago, we spent the whole evening in the basement. Not fun. The part that was definitely not fun fun was Dad saying that there were three hooks on the rader.

A. The tornado could be over at Derby.
B. The tornado could be way east of us.
C. The tornado could be not far south of the South YMCA.

After Mom heard what Dad said, she said that we should stay in the basement. Dad agreed. But I was unusually excited.
" If we went upstairs we could probably see the twister from here!" I said. No one said anything.
Of course. I thought. I had a wild day. When we got home from choir earlier, I noticed the storm clouds. So after we got home and after listening to the weather radio, I grabbed a paper sack a put in it:
1. A bottle of water.
2. A box of Graham crackers.
3. A bright flashlight.

That was our tornado bag. I told Anna to grab the bag and take it with her downstairs when the tornado sirens went off. (I figured th at we would be spending Dinnertime downstairs. )
We were watching a movie when the sirens did go off. At first I thought was my imagination. When I heard it again, I was just about to get Mom and Dad when Mom walked in and acting very calm, she told us to go to the basement. Well, we survivied.

Hurricane Activity

OK. I know I was interested in twisters and I still am but I'm kind of getting interested in hurricanes. Hurricane Igor I'm tracking on Google Earth. Today, Tropical Storm Julia, jumped up to a category one hurricane. Hurricane Igor is a category four and weakening! The bad thing is that Hurricane Julia is getting stronger! Hurricane Igor will make landfall sometime this week on Bermuda. Hopefully, Igor will miss the island or weaken alot!

A New School Year

School for the Sauer kids will start on Sept. 6, 2010. Mom is going to let me keep up studying weather for science, but I'm going to do another science subject. I'm going to learn Electricity.
That should be intresting. I also think I'm going to be learning art and Elementry Diagramming
Work Text. For History, I'll be learning about Ancient Eygpt. Editor in Cheif is a Grammer workbook. Today, I had an appointment to get a Hepititas A shot. :( . Luck came on time. At least 30 min. ago, the doc called and said they ran out of shots and they won't have any for at least a week. YAY!! No shots expected for a week!!!
